A Major Award: Breathing Easy in a Mountain Lake

Another Victory six-pack postcard drawing for Kristen (this one was Prima Pils - my favorite hoppy summertime beer). This was her reward for going 30 days without smoking. It's meant to signify the clean air and sunshiny, outdoorsy, slightly religious iconic, enlightenment feeling that she can now feel because she's not smoking. I did this the other day in a groggy, achy, slightly fevered, New Year's flu state.

If you think you deserve a major award, let me know.

Dinosaur Bugged by Bugs

Another postcard drawing - this one on the back of a Victory Prima Pils 6-pack panel. Not sure who it's going to. If you want it, email me your address and I'll put it in the mail. Great for spicing up your cubicle.

Victory Hop Devil 6-pack Postcard Creepy Dude

The other day after posting this drawing from a postcard to my friend, Kristen expressed some envy:
I am apparently friends with the wrong people b/c i never get postcards like this in the mail. Creepy.
Since I had some extra Victory six-packs with which to make some postcards, I asked her to send me her address and I'd send her a creep. She did and this is what I worked up for her while I took breaks in the salt dairy mines. Mailed it out yesterday and she got it today.

Program Note: mcglinch drawings included in Victory Brewing Company Collaborative Showcase

The fine folks at Victory Brewing Company in Downingtown have asked me (after I got up the nerve and suggested it) to show some of my works in their local artists showcase on Sunday July 20 from 2-4PM.

The five pieces I'm showing have appeared here on the mcglinch.com/blog in the past year or so (including the original of this 1987 classic from my days at Philadelphia Electric Company where I changed the light bulbs on the top of the building to make words before they bought a computer to do the job) -- that is, provided my wife gets them matted & framed for me tonight!

But if you're in the area and in need of some air conditioning, tasty afternoon beers and a dose of culture -- real live musicians and singers will be performing and some other artists displaying their work -- swing by.

Details here.

And when that's over you can head down to the Turk's Head Music Festival in West Chester to round out your day. Take a Victory growler of fresh brew with you (I'm not saying you're allowed to do that, it's just what I would want to do.)

Victory Barkeep Shocker

Reaction of Victory Brewing Co. bartender when  my visiting-from-Texas brother pointed out that she had been included in a snapshot of the Victory Growler Filler on Feed The Ogre soon after Victory reopened in May.

[sincerest apologies to the barkeep for the unflattering and/or lack of likeness of this illustration! that's just how i roll my Pentel e-Sharp mechanical pencil.]

Enjoying a beer

I enjoyed enjoying some fine Victory beers this past weekend at the newly revised and remodeled Victory Brewing Company in Downingtown. Twice.

My only complaint was the inconsistency involved in delivering pints of the un-filtered Braumeister Pils. More often we were given the filtered version or even the Prima Pils. All delicious but the unfiltered was especially delicious and refreshing and we just wanted one more pint.

Our aim is to settle down there on a quiet afternoon and sort this all out. Unless the Braumeister is all gone.

Office Troll Dude

Tonight I was just about to shut things down at the office and head over to Victory to pick up a growler of their new Baltic Thunder Porter when the office troll popped up behind my desk and started gnawing on my display.

I said, "Dude."

You pretty much have to beat him with stapler to get him to lay off the equipment and go back to hiding under the conference room table. He likes to give you those yellowy weepy eyes as a bid for sympathy. Doesn't work on me.

It was enough of a hassle that the whole distraction put me off my post-work mission. I guess I'll head over to Victory Friday night.

Spicy Legs McCoy - Thanksgiving Eve

Thanksgiving Eve, my cousin, Billy "Legs" McCoy was hanging out and was walloped by the Victory Hop Wallop and ended up dipping his torso in the salsa. The Mrs. was none too pleased.

Hoots & Hellmouth

Spent an evening out this weekend with the mrs. and Susan Bankert of Barking Tree Pottery and her husband, Scott, at The Arts Scene in West Chester for the "Mugs, Microbrews, Music & Movies" event at the Down To Earth Exhibit featuring entertainment by local up-and-still-coming-strong movers and shakers Hoots & Hellmouth. Susan had some beer mugs and other pieces in the exhibit along with a bunch of other talented folks.

I took this cell phone shot of the band only to later to find that this turtle dude who had way too many Victory Hop Devil samplers got in my way. I overheard some people plotting to put him on his back if he didn't start behaving.

Despite the turtle dude, the show was a
burn
barn-burner, foot-stomping revival. If you get a chance, grab the Hoots & Hellmouth cd and definitely catch them live.

PostIt Pattern

Fresh from Victory Brewing Company's Fall Fest -- doodled this sticky note yesterday and 'patterned' it tonight. Phils lost but Victory won. Good times. Good beer. Good food. Good friends.
