Sweet Sweet Victory
Our team of three took first place in a three round tourney at our work Christmas Holiday party. Our team tallied the lowest collective score to get past the first round but rallied strong to notch the highest collective score in the second round and went on to win the championship by four pins.
Though victory was sweet there was some disappointment that for all our effort, our 1st place medals looked exactly the same as the 2nd place finishers and the winners of the consolation round.

Friday night and we're talking 'bout dogs?
We were over at Susan Bankert's Barking Tree Pottery open house in Pomeroy tonight. It featured a walk through of her at-home studio and gallery to see all her new functional ceramic work, buy a few things, have some excellent soup and chili her husband, Scott, made and drink some locally brewed Victory Hop Wallop on tap. Susan crafts some beautiful pieces and we've used them for wedding gifts, christmas gifts and ourselves.
After things settled down for the evening we found ourselves in the living room with a group of friends and talking about dog training issues. We're new to it and most of them are pro's. After a while, I found myself saying out loud, "It's Friday night, we're drinking beers and talking about how to get a puppy to sleep through the night!?!" C'mon!
I fully admit I love our new dog and enjoy my time with her but there's a limit to how much of my time I want to dedicate to the creature. I am a selfish bastard, true. Yeeesh.

Goal Game
At the current job we sometimes play "Goal Game" or G-squared in the basement gymnasium, deep in the bowels of the hospital, at lunch time. Goal Game usually starts out with a half-court soccerish scrimmage where I stand in front of a 4 foot wide by 2.5 foot high child's hockey goal and take whatever punishment three or four players can punt out of a soccer ball from six feet out, working out the aggressions of the day.
Since giving my notice, the pummeling I have received has been a daily event and these 'old bones' are feeling the worse for wear.
Goal Game is then supposed to turn into a sort of target range where we each take turns trying to score points by hitting objects on the opposite end of the court by kicking the ball from our own foul line. Points are awarded for hitting: the opposite backboard (3); making a goal in the child's hockey net (1); hitting a round vent cover behind the hockey net (2); making a basket in the opposite basketball hoop (5); and hitting the clock high on the opposite gym wall (instant game winner).
First person to 5 points wins only by 2. Lately, we've found that the scrimmage is more interesting than the traditional game. My pain grows with each day.

Creature in a lake
Doodled this creature/fellow this summer in a meeting. My daughter thinks he's a little too ET-ish. (ET gives her the creeps.)
I only have a couple weeks left at the present job -- I gave notice last week. I'll push to get as many doodles in as possible and then hope for the best at the next gig -- both in terms of work and doodles.

Ok, George Mason made it to the Final Four last year and I was rooting for them every step of the way - underdogs and mid-majors rule. The mascot, though, needs to return to it's proper colonial roots. This is sad and just can't continue.
I'm 2-1 in Bison games following yesterday's loss to UNI.
