Blessing & a Curse: Scanner down

I think the scanner has given up the ghost -- time to research what's next...I'll be back.

Wedding Bells

Did this quickly on the back of a wedding reply card tonight. The couple are notorious hillbilly-teeth-wearers. This place offers a great assortment.

Biking down the shore

I think this is the last of the shore-vacation ink & watercolors. I was lamenting having to wear a helmet down the shore. Riding bikes at the shore since I was young was about freedom. Now that freedom is tainted because we need to set examples for the kids.

I've had my share of bike accidents through the years and it's mostly been elbows, knees and ribs that have taken the brunt of the road or trail. You never know when your head is next and as long as the kids are young and around I suppose I'll keep wearing one.

There may be a window of opportunity between the kids being grown and the grandkids that I can taste full freedom again.

The right book and the wrong posture can leave you a bit striped.

Optimistists or Fools?

I did this last week and now am trying to understand whether I think children are eternal optimists or fools for thinking they'll get different results with the same behavior year after year. Am I just a crabby old man or am I just calling them like I sees them?

Bite the hand that feeds

click for big

Saw this happen this past week: obnoxious child allowed by obnoxious parent to feed cheetos to seagulls. Seagull bites the hand that feeds. Child and parents learn valuable lesson.

Beach Chair Hell

For a few years now we've had these beach chairs with high backs that allow me to fall asleep in the chair while reading the book without my head falling over. The Mrs. picked up a couple of new chairs and I tried one of these out on the first day. It's one of those ones that are supposed to allow you to lie flat on your back and snooze away. However, my big head just flopped over the edge and rested on the sand. Every other person seems to use these things with little to no effort but it just doesn't work for me. I kicked my son out of the old reliable chair and went back to business.

Still on vaca: BoogieBoard Beer PostCard

On vacation still but posting this postcard drawing from the back of a Karma Ale six pack container from Avery Brewing Co. (Boulder CO). Using camera and Picnik to edit the photos (don't have photoshop or other tools on this laptop).

Not convinced that I dig the Karma. But I dig the waves and water temp. Been real nice.

Down the shore

An oldie from a few years ago when I used to be a nice father and put cartoons in the kids' lunches. Now I'm just old and mean. Heading down the shore -- hope to get rejuvenated on the drawing front.

Bobby Sherman

We were finishing up Season 1 of The Partridge Family the other night and I did a quick sketch of my sister's heart-throb, Bobby Sherman, ran it through Illustrator in a quick-and-dirty way. The kids want to know why he always wears a choker. I think I told them it keeps his head from falling off.
